Who Would God Discriminate Against?

This question is asked regarding the Employment Non-Discrimination Act moving through the Senate. It would protect homosexual and transgender Americans from hiring discrimination. A better question might be, Who would God force to violate their consciences that are informed by His Word? But of course, the way you ask the question frames the debate.

No Good People

American physicist and Nobel winner Steven Weinberg has famously said, "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

Is God Anti-gay?

Justin Taylor posted today about a new book that seems to strike just the right message and tone in answer to this question.  The book is by Sam Allberry called Is God anti-gay?  Make sure you watch the video to get the gist of Sam's message - and his attitude.  He says that his identity isn't defined by his same-sex attraction, but by being a child of God.

Late-term Abortion

Here's a recording of the counseling a woman received who went in for a late-term abortion - what she was told about the procedure and what to expect.  The callousness with which they discuss killing the baby is disturbing.  In fact, they repeatedly refer to the baby as "the pregnancy."  They also dissemble when the woman asks about the baby experiencing pain, which babies clearly do by 20 weeks.

Texas Abortion Law

The filibuster in the Texas legislature over the abortion legislation has overshadowed what the law is actually meant to do.  One of the primary things the proposed law would do is ban late-term abortions (i.e. D&X abortions) that occur after the 20th week of gestation.  Not only are these children usually viable outside the womb, they feel pain, and the procedure is more like infanticide than abortion.  Greg describes the procedure in question here.

A Visual Guide to the Unborn

A new iBook is a really stunning tool to show the unborn.  Conception to Birth: The Visual Guide to Your Pregnancy uses photography and animation to go into the womb and follow the developmen of the pre-born.  You can view and rotate 3D images, interact with the pictures to get more information, and play video of very high quality.

The Moral Pro-life Case

The recent political season was a reminder of how much difficulty some pro-lifers have explaining and defending their view.  Red herrings abound.  They need to be ignored to focus again and again on the core issue – the only issue.  What is the unborn?  Nothing else can be answered, no supposed justification for abortion can be decided, until that question is answered.  Unfortunately, most of the discussions about abortion in the media jump to other issues and never consider this fundamental issue.
