Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Whenever you see the word “all,” you always want to consider the frame of reference. What category of things are “all” included? Everything in the world? Or something more limited? In this passage, it’s something more limited. In other words, Paul has learned in every and any circumstance the secret of being satisfied, whether he is filled and in prosperity, or whether he’s in hunger or want, he still knows he can maintain because he has Christ who strengthens him in that situation. He is not talking about doing anything you could imagine but being strong, and filled, and satisfied, and taken care of by Christ in even the most difficult of circumstances.
