Is Theistic Evolution a Contradiction in Terms?

On a recent episode of the Stand to Reason weekly podcast, a supporter of STR took issue with one of the ways Greg Koukl and I argue against theistic evolution. Specifically, the caller did not agree with our argument that some forms of theistic evolution are a contradiction in terms. What I’d like to do is model for you how I would respond. “Jesus Said You Shouldn’t Judge”

A while back, I posted the following comment on my Facebook Page: Everyone—Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jew, New Ager, Atheist—needs to answer the same question: What makes humans valuable in the first place? Normally, I don’t take the time to rehash a Facebook post, but the response I got was extremely characteristic of our culture and deserves some careful thinking. Under the circumstances, I thought it might be instructive to take a closer look at the retort and then walk through how I would respond.

Ready for the Knock on Your Door

Most of us have answered a knock on our door, only to discover a smiling, well-dressed couple—Watchtower publication in hand—standing on the other side, waiting to talk with us about the gospel according to the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Does the Bible Condone Genocide?

This is the final post in a four-part series titled Answering Gosptacles. The last gosptacle—obstacle of the Gospel—I look at is the alleged Canaanite genocide in the Old Testament. How could God command the complete destruction of the Canaanites—every man, woman, and child? This is not an easy question to answer, but I hope that this talk will give you a place to start.

Is One Way the Only Way?

We are continuing our series on Answering Gosptacles with what might be the most pervasive gosptacle that we’ve looked at so far. The exclusivity of Christ as the only way of salvation is deeply offensive to our relativistic and pluralistic culture.

Is the Bible Full of Contradictions?

“The Bible is full of contradictions!” We hear it all the time from skeptics and atheists as if it’s common knowledge. But is it true?

Did Jesus Rise Physically from the Dead?

When a Jehovah's Witness tells you that they believe in the resurrection of Jesus, they mean something very different than what Christians mean. They believe that Jesus only rose spiritually from the dead, not physically. This month I want to offer an argument from Scripture for the physical resurrection of Jesus. Download the mp3...

The Bible Does Not Approve of Everything It Records

Our young people face an unprecedented assault on their faith. It seems to come at them from every side. One area that is effectively used by the enemy is social media. On media like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, it is very easy for people to share rhetorically powerful posts that can leave young Christians scrambling to find an answer.

Was Adam a Real Person?

Last month I was asked to speak at a church on the question “Should Christians Embrace Evolution?” The way you answer this question depends entirely on what you mean by evolution. Broadly speaking, evolution can be divided into two categories: microevolution and macroevolution. Microevolution, or small-scale biological change, is obviously true and is virtually accepted by everyone. Macroevolution, on the other hand, is much more controversial.
