Form vs. Function

Mike at Eternal Perspectives makes a very important distinction between changing the forms of the church to make them more effective and meaningful to fulfill the functions of the church, that should never vary from what the Bible teaches. Many in the emergent church have raised fair concerns, many of which don't strike me as particularly new, but still valid. It's fair at any time to question how effective the church is, but I'm very concerned where the distinction between form and function become blurred. (HT: Smart Christian)

Craig Hawkins comments on the Emergent Church from a recent broadcast of Apologetics.com. Craig is an excellent scholar. I call him the human rolodex - he remembers everything he ever read. He shows up with a stack of books full of post-it notes marking the places, but Craig never needs them. He knows them. And he's a good example of a gracious ambassador. (HT: Resource Index)
