Come join Stand to Reason and our excellent line-up for a memorable spiritual adventure.  You’ll enjoy plenty of fun and relaxation, along with ample opportunity to meet our speakers, ask questions, and enjoy each other’s company. If studying Christian subjects with some of the sharpest minds on the planet in the fellowship of other believers of kindred spirit aboard a beautiful ship sailing the Alaskan coastline sounds like your idea of a perfect vacation, this is the trip for you.

Our plan is to challenge you with stimulating presentations, answer your questions in “open forum” discussions, and enrich you through interaction and fellowship with expert speakers and fellow passengers. Add to that the stunning splendor of the Alaskan coastline and a 7-day itinerary that includes Glacier Bay, Sitka, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria, B.C.

Our vision at Stand to Reason:
Confidence for every Christian
Clear thinking for every challenge
Courage and grace for every encounter

In a world where Christians are constantly faced with opposition, it is particularly important to refocus, refresh, and refuel. That is why Stand to Reason is offering you an opportunity to take six days away from the demands and challenges from our culture and take advantage of STR’s vision which is to give confidence for every Christian, clear thinking for every challenge and courage and grace for every encounter.

Greg, John, and Jim will teach general sessions that will specifically target giving you more confidence, more courage, and clear thinking. You will also be given the opportunity to meet them for breakfast, chat with them informally, and ask questions.

Apologetics doesn’t have to be stuffy – we like to have fun while we’re thinking carefully. All three speakers are as fun as they are informative! There will also be social times to get to know other like-minded Christians. And there will be plenty of free time to enjoy the ship and the sights and experiences in the ports we’ll visit.

Here is a sample of what you will learn:

John Stonestreet:

“Entertainment: Amusing Ourselves to Death”
Jesus wanted us to be in the culture, but not of it. But what does that mean? Christianity can thoughtfully and realistically engage the modern age. John will lead us to examine the intersection of faith and culture, media, music, and entertainment with a Christian worldview. Christians can thoughtfully examine the culture so they aren’t transformed by it, but are salt and light to it.

“Restoring All Things: God's Audacious Plan to Change the World through Everyday People”
It's easy to get discouraged by the headlines. We want to believe God's promises to us, and we search for signs that He is working through us to reach the world in which we live. John will show how God is powerfully active and intensely engaged in fulfilling His promise to restore all things unto Himself. Through inspiring real-life stories of justice, mercy, love, and forgiveness in our midst, John will encourage us to find ways He can use us to work out the redemption in this world.

J. Warner Wallace:

“The Cold Case Reliability of the Gospels”
Jim is used to examining documents for their credibility. It’s what he did as a cold-case homicide detective. Jim casts his expert and critical eye on the historical documents about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. He’ll demonstrate that they are reliable accounts of history and show you how to demonstrate that to others.

“Forensic Faith: Practices to Help You Examine the Claims of Christianity Like a Good Detective”
Jim will share insights from his new book Forensic Faith. Our Christian confidence can be bolstered if we apply a little investigative diligence to our daily lives as Christ followers. Once we’ve accepted our evidential duty and embraced a commitment to training, we need to learn how to think like detectives. Jim’s experience as a cold-case investigator will illustrate investigative practices you can employ to examine the claims of Christianity and be confident in sharing them with others.

Greg Koukl:

“Credo: The Story of Reality”
What is Christianity? Is it a religious system? A relationship with God? A philosophy of life? A roadmap to Heaven? It is actually much more than any of those. Christianity is a story, a drama about conflict, love, betrayal, rebellion, self-sacrifice, and redemption. But this story isn’t a make-believe story. It is a story about the way the world actually is. It is the story of reality. In this talk, Greg narrates the Christian story—the Christian view of reality, or worldview—in a way that is a refreshing in its simplicity and clarity. Greg describes the basic concepts that form the cornerstones of all worldviews, and the five simple words needed to outline the plot of the Christian account of reality.

“Primer on Clear Thinking”
Our goal at STR is to teach you how to think, not just tell you what to think. Critical thinking is a process of questioning and reflection. It’s not difficult, and some basic skills can greatly increase your comfort and ability to effectively maneuver in conversations about your faith – and thoughtfully show the critics where their thinking has misled them about Christian beliefs and values. Critical thinking can be thought of like a house – a structure that supports itself. Greg will give you some practical skills for your Ambassador toolbox.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING:

RIGHT DECISION

"I had deliberated for some time on whether or not to go on the cruise, but I am so grateful now for having made the right decision. I've told friends it felt like I had been dropped into an apologetics equivalent of a fantasy baseball camp where I actually got to workout with my heroes in the faith."
Jack Keebler

MEMORABLE

"I wanted to thank you for the incredible privilege of sailing with Stand to Reason on the Amsterdam to Alaska. It was one of the most beautiful and memorable trips I've ever taken, and I felt very lucky to be in the presence of such great thinkers!"
Jane Rockley

AWESOME

"The integration of the scholarly with fellowship and the cruise experience itself, like our God we serve, was awesome!"
Jerry Bogacz

UNBEATABLE

"The combination of spiritual training, intellectual stimulation, meeting people of like mind, being awed by God's creation, and the fun of a cruise is unbeatable. My wife and I can't wait to go again, and we hope to bring others with us!"
Matt Seuss

EFFECTIVE

"Aside from viewing the beauty of God's Alaskan creation, the STR cruise stretched and illuminated my style of Christian thinking - to be a better and more effective Ambassador for Jesus Christ."
Laurie Anne Brown
